About this image

In the center of this VIS image, a small channel is visible. This unnamed channel exits Jezero Crater (off image to the left) and flows down into Isidis Planitia. Jezero Crater is the home of the Mars 2020 rover - Perseverance - and its little helicopter buddy - Ingenuity. The Mars 2020 mission is focused on the delta deposit within the crater. The delta would have formed when the crater held a lake. Studying the delta will provide information about a time when Mars was much wetter. The channel in this image formed when the crater rim was breached and the lake waters emptied into Isidis Planitia.
