Also showing part of Cimmeria Terra, this infrared image shows a region where the majority of dune fields are located on the floors of craters. The dune fields have grown to large sizes filling a half or more of the host crater. Is image was collected in the middle of southern summer when the dunes are completely defrosted and are bright (warm) in the infrared.
