About this image

This image illustrates a type of lava flow termed platy flows. The surface of the lava flow appears to be made up of large slabs of lava. These platy flows cover the plains of Southern Elysium. These flows appear to be very fluid lava flows but a mudflow origin can't be completely ruled out for these flows.
